As there are several Westpac credit cards to choose from, it's important to consider all your options before you make your choice.

Westpac Low Rate Visa Card or MasterCard

The Westpac Low Rate credit card is available as a Visa Card or a MasterCard. It offers customers a great way to save money on credit card bills on purchases and on balance transfers.

With a low annual fee of just $45, customers can benefit from a low balance transfer interest rate of just 3.99% for the first six months. There's no need to continue paying high interest rates on your old credit card accounts when you can transfer the balances over to your Westpac Low Rate credit card and reduce your interest charges dramatically.

Every time you make a repayment, more of your money is going towards paying off your credit card balance instead of paying those hefty interest charges each month.

Once the initial six month low rate expires, the interest rate on any remaining balances will revert to the very competitive standard purchase rate of 13.24%.

Westpac '55 Day' Credit Card

The Westpac 55 Day credit card can allow cardholders to pay 0% on the purchases they make using their card for the first 5 months. This can be ideal if you know you have a large purchase to make, as you'll have 5 months to repay it without paying any interest on the amount you spent.

Westpac will also waive the annual fee for the first year of your account, although in subsequent years, the account fee is a low $30 per year.

Once the initial 0% for 5 months on purchases has expired, any outstanding balance you have will be charged at the standard purchase rate of 19.24%. To get the most out of this card, try to ensure you repay the amount you charged before the expiry date.

You can also benefit from a low 3.99% interest rate on balance transfers for the first six months. Simply apply for the balance transfer option at the time of application and you could be paying far less interest on your credit card balance than you thought.

Westpac Earth Cards

Westpac Earth credit cards allow you to benefit from great low balance transfer rates as well as earning Qantas frequent flyer points on purchases you make using your card.

If you're struggling to reduce your current credit card balances, you could benefit from transferring those high interest balances over to a Westpac Earth credit card. The balances you transfer over will be charged at an ultra low 0.99% for the first six months.

Instead of watching your credit card payments get eaten away in high interest costs, your money will be going directly to paying off your credit card more quickly.

Once the initial six month rate expires, any balances you have outstanding will then be charged at the higher standard purchase rate of 19.64%.

However, if you can manage to repay your entire balance, and then continue to repay it every month before the due date, you could receive up to 45 days interest free on your purchases.

You'll automatically receive two credit cards linked to the same account – an Earth American Express Card and an Earth MasterCard

You'll also be earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points each time you make a purchase. If you use your Earth American Express Card to make purchases, you'll earn 1 point for each $1 you spend, and 1 point for every $2 you spend using your MasterCard.
