Westpac 55 Day Platinum Card

Key benefits of the Westpac 55 Day Platinum Card

The Westpac 55 day Platinum Card is so named because it offers 55 days interest-free credit on purchases. Provided you have paid off your closing credit card balance from the previous month, you can enjoy a maximum of 55 days breathing space before you have to deal with your purchases. This can be extremely useful if you have a large purchase to make that requires a little time to amass the required funds to pay off, for example if you are awaiting a pay-cheque.

This card also boasts the unusual benefit for a Platinum credit card of charging no annual fee for the first 12 months. If you have checked out other Platinum cards, you will know that the fees for these can be pretty high, as though the assumption is that if you are financially able to qualify for such a card, then you are also able to swallow high annual fees without any problem.  The Westpac 55 Day Platinum Card does not make this assumption, and will even continue to waive the annual fee (normally a quite reasonable $130) if you make an annual card spend of $20,000 or more.

It further offers the chance to make a balance transfer from a non-Westpac credit card at a rate of 3.99% p.a. for 6 months from the date the account is opened. This is great if you have a debt on another card accruing interest at a double-figure rate, as you will most likely be able to save yourself at least 10%.

Naturally, being a Platinum level credit card, the Westpac 55 Day Card comes with all the usual perks of this colour of card, which is one of the key reasons why many people who are eligible choose to go for this more prestigious piece of plastic.
